We recognize that mental health is a growing concern in our country and has the potential to worsen if no corrective action is taken. We are also mindful of the negative effects that mental health issues can have on productivity and performance in the workplace.
The time to take action on this very serious matter is now, so we did.
The AT&LU’s Mental Health Clause in the collective bargaining agreement creates a framework of cooperation and shared responsibility, by all parties to the agreement, in addressing the mental health of employees.
The clause addresses topics such as the employer’s financial assistance for counselling, leave for counselling, etc.
