In keeping with our mandate through conventions established by the International Labour Organization and those conventions which have been ratified by Antigua and Barbuda, thus becoming law, we remain steadfast in perusing justice for victims of gender-based violence and harassment of all forms.
However, even though justice is administered after the offense, the victim remains a victim for a long time thereafter.
The AT&LU is taking a proactive and bold approach to gender-based violence and harassment of all forms in the world of work. We aim to have employers play their part in protecting workers from such hideous and unwarranted acts - stopping them from becoming victims.
That is what our gender-based violence and harassment of all forms policy does. It also establishes clear and detailed procedures that should be followed by the employer whenever allegations relating to gender-based violence and harassment arise. It also protects the rights of the victim and safeguard the victim’s dignity. Too often victims of gender-based violence and harassment have been treated like perpetrators themselves and in some cases even worse.
